Digicel Fiji CEO to Conclude Tenure After 20 Years of Service

Digicel Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Farid Mohammed, has announced he will depart the company and relocate overseas with his family.
This marks the conclusion of a remarkable twenty-year career with Digicel Pacific, during which Farid made a significant contribution to the organisation and the communities it serves.
Farid joined Digicel Pacific on 4 August 2006 and he has served in several key leadership roles including as Business Analyst, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer. He has directly contributed across four Digicel Pacific markets including Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Tonga and Samoa, and became the first local appointed CEO of Digicel Fiji.
During his six-year tenure as CEO Fiji, Farid led major technology upgrades, network modernisation programmes and business transformation initiatives that strengthened Digicel Fiji’s operations and positioned the business for future growth. Under his leadership, Digicel Fiji achieved several milestones, including significantly boosting the subscriber base through the successful “All In” campaign.
Farid guided Digicel Fiji through major national and regional challenges, most notably the organisation’s response to the devastation of Cyclone Winston and the global COVID‑19 pandemic, ensuring customers remained connected during critical moments.
Reflecting on his journey, Farid said:
“Digicel Pacific has been my home for twenty years. I am deeply grateful to our people, our customers, our partners and our Board for their trust and support. While I am stepping away from my role, Digicel Pacific will always remain a part of who I am.”
Digicel Pacific Regional Hub Markets CEO, Steve Long, said:
“We celebrate and show our gratitude to Farid for the enormous contribution he has made to Digicel Pacific, our people and our customers. Farid’s leadership and commitment have left a lasting impact on Digicel Fiji and the wider Pacific. We thank him for his exceptional service and wish him and his family every success in their next chapter.”
Steve Long will directly oversee the Digicel Fiji business until such time a permanent appointment is made.
