Goroka Secondary School computer lab will soon be completed.

March 11, 2025, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea || The Digicel PNG Foundation is proud to announce significant strides in enhancing education infrastructure across Papua New Guinea. Through a holistic approach, the foundation is improving learning environments, increasing access to education, fostering community development, and ensuring sustainability.

The cornerstone of these efforts is the BeLit Computer Lab Initiative, which aims to bridge the digital literacy gap in secondary schools. This initiative focuses on refurbishing computer labs, providing laptops, and supporting ICT teachers. In 2025, the foundation plans to establish eight new computer labs.

Recent achievements include signing agreements with three schools, procuring computers, starting renovations, drafting selection processes, and assessing nine schools, recommending five for new labs. Refurbishment progress is well underway, with Goroka Secondary School at 60% completion, Kainantu Technical Secondary School at 50%, and Mt Diamond Adventist Secondary School at 20%.

"The BeLit Computer Lab Initiative is more than just an educational project; it's a transformative movement," said Serena Sasingian, CEO of the Digicel PNG Foundation. "By equipping our youth with critical digital skills, we are not only enhancing their educational experience but also empowering them to become the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. This initiative is a crucial step towards a brighter, more connected future for Papua New Guinea."

The Digicel PNG Foundation's efforts are paving the way for brighter futures, empowering the next generation of leaders in Papua New Guinea with essential ICT and digital skills. Together, we are building a foundation for success and innovation that will benefit generations to come.
