Apia, Samoa – Wednesday, 6 March 2025

Digicel Samoa officially launched a new cell tower in Gautavai, Savai'i, reinforcing its commitment to expanding connectivity across the island. This is the first of the planned new towers set to roll out in Savai'i, ensuring that residents and businesses have access to greater connectivity.

The launch event was attended by Digicel Samoa CEO, Karl Vizvary with representatives from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Regulator’s Office, the Electric Power Corporation (EPC), village Matai and community members.

Karl commented; “Digicel Samoa is focused on Savai'i and this new tower in Gautavai is just the beginning of a broader investment plan to bring fast, reliable, and seamless connectivity to the island. We are dedicated to ensuring that Savai'i enjoys great quality of mobile and data services. This launch marks the first step in a long-term commitment, with more towers to follow.

The Gautavai tower will provide critical 4G LTE coverage to over 1,000 residents, allowing for improved mobile voice and data connectivity. With Savai'i’s growing economy, thriving tourism industry, and strong community networks, enhanced connectivity will enable local businesses, farmers, students, and families to stay connected and take advantage of new opportunities.

“Digicel Samoa is committed to delivering digital inclusion for all Samoans. We recognise the essential role that connectivity plays in driving social and economic progress,” added Karl.

Digicel Samoa’s investment in Savai'i reflects its mission to connect the unconnected, providing reliable, high-speed mobile and internet services to empower communities, support economic development, and enhance everyday life.
