Digicel Samoa Leads the Way with Expanded 5G Network

Apia, Samoa – [20th January]

Digicel Samoa is proud to announce the rollout of five new 5G sites across Apia and surrounding suburbs, bringing its total to 25 5G sites. This expansion reinforces Digicel Samoa’s position as Samoa’s leading provider, delivering great speed, reliability, and coverage.

With the new sites strategically placed in key urban, residential, and industrial areas, customers can now access fast internet, improved streaming, next-level gaming, and greater access to digital services.

This milestone is part of Digicel Samoa’s WST $23 million investment in network upgrades across Upolu and Savaii, including 32 new base stations which includes 19 5G and 13 LTE coverage sites last year. Digicel Samoa is committed to its journey towards building Samoa’s digital future.

Karl Vizvary, CEO of Digicel Samoa, said “We’re excited to lead the way in connectivity for Samoa. Digicel Samoa was the first to introduce 5G in Samoa and we continue to set the standard. With more 5G sites, we’re helping to provide Samoans with access to a faster, more reliable network they can use for work, play, and everything in between.”

Digicel Samoa’s expanded 5G network supports business growth, education, entertainment, and essential online services, empowering communities and driving Samoa’s transition to a digitally connected economy.

Residential customers in Samoa will be able to get hold of a 5G router from $99 tala with $129 for 500GB or $200 for 1TB plan with a minimum term of 12 months under the Maota Home Internet Plan, dispensing with the need for spending over $1,000 tala for satellite internet equipment.
