Digicel Samoa announced its sponsorship of $5,000 to support local boxer, Ato Leau Plodzicki-Faoagali, as he sets his sights on representing Samoa at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.

Ato’s journey is a testament to the perseverance and power of family support. Inspired by boxing legends like former heavyweight David Tua and Tonga’s Olympic silver medallist Paea Wolfrgram and mentored by Joseph Parker, Ato is poised to make his mark in Paris.

Digicel Samoa CEO, Anthony Seuseu, said; “We are thrilled to support Ato on his quest. His story embodies the spirit of determination and resilience that resonates deeply with our brand. Ato will be competing in the 92kg division. He hails from the Saaga Siumu and Tuana'I villages, the Sydney-based fighter has represented Samoa at the Pacific Games, Commonwealth Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ato won the heavyweight division gold medal at last year’s Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands and took out the silver medal after losing in the final at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
