Digicel Vanuatu Unveils New Mobile Tower In Banban

Santo, Vanuatu – Tuesday, August 19, 2025

Digicel Vanuatu today launched a new mobile tower in Banban, enhancing connectivity for the rural Santo community. This investment further strengthens Digicel Vanuatu’s commitment to working to help bridge the digital divide and promote economic and educational growth among Vanuatu’s rural population.

Having access to improved connectivity in the region will help local farmers, schools and small businesses realise the full benefits of important digital technologies.

Strategically positioned between Luganville and Santo, Banban is the primary transit town and farming centre of Santo. This vibrant district is home to dedicated farmers, energetic youth and families who depend on reliable mobile services for communication, education and business.

Digicel Vanuatu CEO, Gary Sue-Fong, said; “This new mobile tower will be a life-changing opportunity for rural residents in Banban. It has the potential to transform the agricultural industry by opening up access to vital market information and digital financial services to farmers. On top of that, it’s going to empower young people and families by providing a means to access better educational support, as well as enabling enhanced economic inclusion. This is consistent with our core belief that everyone, wherever they are, deserves access to services that can enable progress and prosperity.”

The new Banban mobile tower has been rolled out under the government’s Universal Access Policy deal and reaffirms Digicel Vanuatu’s commitment to increasing access for lesser-served communities across the nation.
